Sous Chef - Fresh Food Cafe| Cirencester
GMP Recruitment are currently working with a fantastic client to recruit an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join a vibrant independent café in the heart of the Cotswolds. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a creative, community-driven business focused on seasonal, sustainable food within a truly inspiring setting.
Salary: £14.00 – £20.00 per hour + staff benefits + excellent work-life balance
The Role
As Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef and wider kitchen team to deliver consistently exceptional food and service standards across a busy café operation. You will play a key role in menu creativity, kitchen organisation, and maintaining high culinary standards while supporting the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver consistently high standards of food quality, flavour, and presentation
- Cook using fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced ingredients
- Support menu development and contribute ideas for daily specials
- Assist in overseeing efficient kitchen operations during busy service periods
- Maintain excellent hygiene, safety, and food preparation standards
- Support stock control, ordering, and kitchen organisation
- Help train, mentor, and motivate junior kitchen team members
- Work collaboratively to create a positive and professional kitchen culture
- Step into leadership responsibilities in the Head Chef’s absence
About You
- Experienced Sous Chef or strong Chef de Partie ready to step up
- Passionate about seasonal, sustainable, and scratch cooking
- Calm under pressure, organised, and highly reliable
- Strong team player with excellent communication skills
- Confident across prep, service, stock management, and team support
- Flexible, enthusiastic, and eager to grow within the business
- Someone who values a healthy work-life balance and positive team culture
