Help shape the future of care in South Gloucestershire
At WECIL, we believe Disabled people should have genuine choice and control over how they live their lives. Access to personalised, flexible support is a vital part of making that happen.
We're looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Community Care Workforce Development Officer to help grow an innovative network of local care providers across South Gloucestershire.
This is an exciting opportunity to build something new—supporting people to create sustainable self-employed care businesses while helping Disabled people access the personalised support they need to live independently.
If you're passionate about community development, inclusion, enterprise, and creating opportunities for others, we'd love to hear from you.
About the role
Across South Gloucestershire, many Disabled people choose to employ their own Personal Assistants (PAs) through Direct Payments and other personalised funding arrangements.
Increasingly, some support workers are choosing to work independently or as part of small local organisations, providing flexible and personalised support tailored to individual needs. These providers are known as micro-providers.
As Community Care Workforce Development Officer, you'll lead the development of a thriving local network of micro-providers, helping people establish and grow successful services while ensuring quality, safety and sustainability.
This is a varied and rewarding role combining community engagement, workforce development, partnership building and quality assurance.
What you'll be doing
- Recruiting and supporting new micro-providers across South Gloucestershire, with a particular focus on rural communities
- Providing guidance on self-employment, business development and sustainable working practices
- Promoting micro-provision as a rewarding employment pathway
- Building strong relationships with community organisations, statutory partners and local networks
- Developing referral pathways and increasing awareness of personalised care options
- Supporting the delivery of a simple membership and quality assurance framework
- Coordinating training, networking and peer support opportunities
- Maintaining a directory of local micro-providers
- Monitoring outcomes, evaluating impact and contributing to project reporting
- Helping shape a more diverse, flexible and community-led care market
About you
We're looking for someone who:
- Enjoys building relationships and engaging with people from a wide range of backgrounds
- Is passionate about inclusion, independence and person-centred support
- Has experience supporting people into employment, self-employment, enterprise or community initiatives
- Is confident working independently and managing a varied workload
- Has strong organisational and communication skills
- Can balance encouragement and support with maintaining appropriate standards and expectations
- Is motivated by creating opportunities and making a tangible difference in local communities
Experience in community development, social care, employment support, enterprise development, business support or the voluntary sector would be particularly valuable. However, we welcome applications from people with transferable skills and a passion for our mission.
