- Support pupils with a wide range of needs, including autism, mental health challenges, and complex medical needs, ensuring their safety, comfort, and participation at all times.
- Work closely with teaching staff and therapists to follow individual education and care plans, adapting support strategies to meet each pupil’s specific needs.
- Provide calm, consistent support to help pupils regulate emotions, respond to sensory input, and engage positively with their environment.
- Assist with personal care and medical support where required, following appropriate training and school procedures.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to promote a sense of security, wellbeing, and confidence in their surroundings.
Pre-requisites:
- Experience working with children or young people with additional needs, ideally in a SEND, care, or specialist educational setting.

- Awareness of a range of needs including ASC, SEMH, and complex medical conditions, with the ability to adapt support accordingly.
- Confidence supporting pupils with communication difficulties, using strategies such as visual supports, gestures, or alternative communication methods.
- A calm, patient, and flexible approach, with the ability to respond to the unpredictable nature of a specialist setting.
- Willingness to support with personal care and follow medical or therapeutic guidance where required.
