Machine Operative
The Machine Operator is responsible for operating and managing filling lines to ensure products are produced to the required quality and quantity standards. The role supports efficient production operations through accurate machine setup, ongoing monitoring and completion of production records, whilst maintaining high standards of hygiene, health & safety and compliance with company procedures.
Key Responsibilities
· Line Setup & Operation: Set up filling machines in accordance with SOPs, job specifications and QC standards, ensuring readiness for production within required timeframes
· Production Output: Operate and manage filling lines to achieve production targets for both quality and quantity
· Quality Control: Carry out routine in-process quality checks and accurately record results in line with ISO and company standards
· Material Control: Ensure all raw materials from previous jobs are cleared before starting new production runs
· Packing & Labelling: Pack products to required standards, label and count components accurately and move to designated RTS areas
· Line Management: Monitor filling operations and replenish consumables such as labels, lids and components as required to maintain efficiency
· Changeovers: Complete production changeovers efficiently, meeting target times whilst maintaining compliance with procedures
· Waste Management: Ensure all waste is correctly segregated, weighed and recorded in line with company processes
· Documentation: Complete all required paperwork and system entries accurately and on time
· Hygiene & Safety: Maintain high standards of hygiene and housekeeping and comply with all health & safety requirements at all times
· Continuous Improvement: Support improvements in safety, quality and operational efficiency across production processes
Person Specification
· Experience working in a production, packing or manufacturing environment
· Good understanding of hygiene, quality and health & safety procedures
· Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
· Comfortable working with machinery following training
· Reliable, organised and able to work both independently and as part of a team
· A proactive, positive attitude with a commitment to doing things right first time
· Comfortable working in a busy, structured environment with repetitive tasks
· Flexible and willing to support different areas of the production operation as required
The working hours for this role are on a rotating early and late shift:
Week 1: Monday to Thursday 06:00 til 14:00, Fridays 06:00 - 12:30
Week 2: Monday to Thursday 14:00 til 22:00, Friday 12.30 - 19:00
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a production or factory setting and be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
This role is suited to someone who is tidy, well-organised, and takes pride in their work. You should be able to follow verbal and written instructions, have a strong awareness of health and safety practices and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
