A leading manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced Head of Warehouse & Transport to lead and optimise its warehousing, logistics, and transport operations across a multi-site environment.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for an ambitious logistics professional with a proven background in manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing strategy, driving operational excellence, improving service levels, and leading high-performing teams across warehouse and transport functions.
Reporting directly to senior leadership, this role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on business performance while shaping the future direction of logistics operations.
The Role
As Head of Warehouse & Transport, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across warehousing, distribution, fleet management, and third-party logistics activities.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Developing and delivering warehouse and transport strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Leading multi-site warehouse and distribution operations to ensure exceptional service delivery.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, efficiency, and cost performance.
- Managing transport operations, including fleet, carrier, and third-party logistics relationships.
- Ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient movement of goods across the supply chain.
- Delivering strong performance against key operational KPIs including service levels, inventory accuracy, productivity, and cost control.
- Leading budget management and identifying opportunities for operational savings and efficiencies.
- Supporting investment projects, systems improvements, and logistics transformation initiatives.
- Building and developing high-performing warehouse and transport leadership teams.
- Maintaining high standards of health & safety, compliance, governance, and operational discipline.
- Acting as a key stakeholder across operations, customer service, procurement, manufacturing, and commercial teams.
The Person:
We are looking for a highly capable logistics leader who can combine strategic thinking with strong operational execution.
You will be able to demonstrate:
- Significant senior leadership experience within warehouse, logistics, and transport operations.
- A strong background within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience managing high-volume, fast-paced distribution and warehousing operations.
- Proven success leading multi-site logistics functions.
- Strong commercial awareness with experience managing budgets and delivering cost efficiencies.
- A track record of improving service performance, operational productivity, and customer satisfaction.
- Experience managing transport compliance, fleet operations, and third-party logistics providers.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to engage, develop, and motivate teams.
- Experience driving operational change, continuous improvement, and transformation projects.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable Experience
- Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Transport Management Systems (TMS).
- Logistics automation, optimisation, or network transformation projects.
- IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent health and safety qualifications.
- Experience operating within both in-house and outsourced logistics models.
