Job Title: Junior Website and Digital Systems Officer
Reports to: Innovation and Improvement Senior Manager
Main Places of work: Ver House, Park Estate, Frogmore, St Albans, AL2 2DR
With travel to other Communities 1st sites and venues as required.
Hours: 21 hours a week
Purpose of the Job:
To provide practical digital systems support across the wider group, while developing skills and experience in website publishing, digital content management, accessibility, analytics and reporting tools. This is a developmental role for someone who wants to build a career in digital systems and online communications.
The postholder will support the maintenance and improvement of websites and related digital systems across Communities 1st, Trestle and Para Dance UK, helping ensure that content prepared by colleagues is accurately uploaded, well presented and easy to access. The role will also support the development and maintenance of routine reports and Power BI dashboards, with opportunities to build confidence, technical skills and responsibility over time.
General Responsibilities
· Support the uploading, formatting and maintenance of website content across the wider group.
· Learn how to carry out digital quality checks, improve content presentation and support better online user journeys.
· Assist with website housekeeping, digital asset organisation and routine publishing tasks.
· Support reporting, dashboard and Power BI-related work, with guidance, training and development over time.
· Take part in training and supported development linked to websites, accessibility, analytics, digital systems and reporting.
Key responsibilities:
Website Publishing and Content Support
· Upload and maintain content across group websites and relevant digital platforms.
· Format and present written and visual content supplied by colleagues so it is clear, accurate and well laid out.
· Update and refresh pages such as service information, news items, FAQs, campaigns and public updates.
· Carry out routine checks to ensure content is current and outdated information is removed or archived appropriately.
Digital Quality and User Experience
· Learn to check pages for broken links, layout issues, presentation problems and accessibility concerns.
· Support improvements to templates, page structure, navigation and consistency across websites.
· Help spot issues affecting user experience and flag them appropriately.
· Assist with simple image processing and optimisation of website assets.
Reporting and Power BI Development
· Support the development and maintenance of Power BI dashboards and reports for internal and external use.
· Assist with preparing, checking and presenting data in ways that are clear, accurate and useful to colleagues.
· Help update routine reports and dashboard content, working with colleagues to improve presentation and usability over time.
· Develop confidence in using Power BI and related data tools, with support and training, so that the role can make a growing contribution to reporting and insight work.
Development and Support to Colleagues
· Develop confidence in using content management systems, digital publishing tools and reporting systems.
· Help organise digital assets, templates and guidance materials.
· Support colleagues with straightforward publishing processes and learn how to explain digital tasks clearly.
· Escalate more technical issues appropriately while building skills over time.
Digital Audience and CRM Support
· Support the maintenance of accurate contact records and distribution groups relevant to digital communications.
· Help ensure contacts are appropriately tagged so email communications reach the right audiences.
