We are expanding and looking for new staff to join our successful team
Salary: £22,500 Actual Salary for 44.6 weeks of the year (39 school weeks plus 5.6 weeks holiday), moving to £24,000 after 6 months’ probation
Hours: Fulltime during term time only
To support the education, wellbeing, and personal development of learners within The River Bourne Edge Alternative Provision. The postholder will deliver individualised and small-group sessions, promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour, and help learners develop functional, social, and life skills through trauma-informed and restorative approaches.
Key Responsibilities
· Learning and Support
· Deliver engaging, differentiated learning sessions in core subjects, vocational skills, and wellbeing activities.
· Support learners to develop literacy, numeracy, life skills, and confidence.
· Adapt approaches to meet individual needs, EHCP targets, and personal learning goals.
· Emotional and Behavioural Support
· Use trauma-informed and restorative practice to help learners regulate emotions and build resilience.
· Model positive relationships and promote mutual respect.
· Respond calmly and effectively to challenging behaviour.
· Collaboration and Communication
· Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals.
· Maintain accurate records of progress, attendance, and incidents.
· Contribute to team meetings, reviews, and planning sessions.
· Safeguard the welfare of all learners in line with policy and procedure.
· Promote a safe, nurturing environment that encourages self-expression and growth.
· Support activities across settings including classrooms, outdoor learning areas, and vocational spaces.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
Experience working with children/young people with SEMH, SEN, or behavioural needs
Understanding of trauma-informed and restorative approaches
Ability to build positive, trusting relationships
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Flexible, creative, and calm under pressure
Commitment to safeguarding and equality
Desirable Criteria
Experience in an alternative provision or PRU
Training in Team Teach or equivalent
Qualification in Education, Youth Work, or Supporting Teaching & Learning (Level 3+)
Experience delivering small-group or 1:1 learning
Knowledge of EHCP processes
First Aid or Mental Health First Aid certification
