James Ray Recruitment are working on behalf of an award-winning firm seeking a Senior Associate Clinical Negligence Lawyer. The successful candidate will be 5+ years PQE.
The successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload of clinical negligence matters, including both pre-action and litigated claims. The caseload will primarily comprise complex and high-value claims against NHS Hospital Trusts and General Practitioners, with opportunities to work on catastrophic injury cases, including brain injuries, birth injuries, and amputations. Please note that dental negligence cases are not undertaken.
The role:
- Manage a varied caseload of pre-action and litigated clinical negligence cases involving NHS Hospital Trusts and General Practitioners.
- Experience supporting clients in catastrophic injury claims, including brain injuries, birth injuries, amputations, and other life-changing injuries.
- Demonstrate empathy, professionalism, and sensitivity when advising and supporting seriously injured clients and their families.
- Conduct risk assessments and case evaluations to support effective litigation strategies and successful case outcomes.
- Deliver excellent client service while maintaining strong financial performance and achieving departmental objectives.
- Build and maintain a reputation for high-quality legal advice, effective case management, and positive client outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with legal assistants, secretaries, counsel, medical experts, and other professionals to progress claims efficiently.
- Committed to continuous professional development, with an interest in obtaining and maintaining specialist accreditations, including Law Society and AvMA recognition.
- Contribute to business development initiatives, networking activities, and marketing efforts to promote clinical negligence services and strengthen professional relationships.
- Ambitious legal professional with a long-term commitment to career progression and leadership within a successful clinical negligence team.
Candidate Requirements:
- 5 + years PQE
- Proven experience handling high-value and complex clinical negligence claims.
- Demonstrable track record of managing a mixed clinical negligence caseload, including litigated matters, while achieving billing and financial targets.
- Ability to consistently meet key performance indicators and departmental objectives.
- Strong litigation experience with a sound understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR).
- Determined and resilient approach, with the ability to progress cases effectively and achieve successful outcomes.
- Excellent client care and communication skills, with a genuine commitment to supporting clients through challenging circumstances.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise a demanding workload.
- Experience using case management systems; knowledge of Proclaim would be advantageous.
- Collaborative and supportive team player, committed to contributing to the ongoing success of the department.
- Applications are welcomed from candidates with substantial personal injury experience, particularly those who have handled high-value and complex claims.
- Law Society Clinical Negligence Panel or AvMA accreditation is desirable but not essential.
- Good understanding of current issues, developments, and challenges within the clinical negligence sector.
- Experience of producing legal content, such as blogs, articles, or other marketing materials, would be beneficial.
- Willingness to participate in networking, marketing, community engagement, and fundraising events on behalf of the firm.
