The role in a nutshell:
As an Dementia Café volunteer, you will be supporting with our dementia sessions across Worcestershire.
What will you be doing?
Tasks include, but not limited to:
Prepare and serve refreshments for attendees
Clear tables and assist with washing up
Help set up the venue before the cafe starts and pack away at the end
Welcome, engage and spend time with people living with dementia and their carers
Offer general support to attendees
Work as part of a team
How would you be supported in this role?
In addition to induction training, you will be supported by the Dementia team who will regularly check in with you and provide support and guidance.
Why do we need volunteers in this role?
The purpose of the dementia café volunteer is to help provide support to people who have received a diagnosis of dementia.
Additional information:
The Bromsgrove dementia cafe run monthly on the 2nd Wednesday of the month, from 10:30am-12:30pm. We ask that volunteers attend from 10am-1pm to support with set up/pack away.
As part of joining our Dementia team, we’ll ask you to complete an Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check and provide two references, to ensure everyone we support stays safe and well cared for.
We reimburse reasonable expenses incurred, for example travel costs.

An interest in and understanding of issues facing people living with dementia
A commitment to inclusion and treating people from all backgrounds with dignity
Good communication skills
Recognise the importance of confidentiality
