Lothlorien is a long-established therapeutic community located near the village of Corsock in rural Dumfries and Galloway. Set within 17 acres of woodland, gardens, and meadows, we have spent over 40 years demonstrating the value of organic gardening and nature-based therapeutic activities in supporting people experiencing mental health challenges.
We are seeking an Outreach Coordinator to join our Core Group staff team on a fixed-term basis until March 2028. This role focuses on developing and delivering Lothlorien’s outreach and day visitor programme, supporting people experiencing mental health challenges to engage meaningfully in community life and therapeutic activities.
You will work closely with day visitors, residents, volunteers, and partner organisations to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment. The role involves coordinating workshops, therapeutic gardening sessions, nature-based activities, and community events, while also helping people build confidence, self-esteem, practical skills, and supportive connections.
Alongside outreach coordination, you will be actively involved in wider community life at Lothlorien, including community meetings, shared work periods, and therapeutic sessions. By building strong, trusting relationships, you will help support people in their recovery and encourage greater independence and wellbeing.

- Bring a genuine interest in therapeutic gardening and nature-based approaches
- Be confident coordinating activities, workshops, or community-based programmes

- Demonstrate empathy, reliability, initiative, and strong interpersonal skills
- Be able to work both independently and collaboratively within a close-knit community setting
Hours and conditions
- This is a fixed-term position until March 2028, working 3 days per week
- The role includes participation in the on-call rota (approximately 1 week in 4)
- On-call is primarily telephone-based; however, occasional on-site attendance may be required if residents’ mental health deteriorates
- Applicants must be able to reach the site within one hour when on call
- On-call duties are paid separately
