About the role :
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Team Leader to oversee day-to-day transaction processing and support key financial reporting activities. This is a hands-on role combining technical accounting responsibilities with team leadership, offering excellent exposure to business performance and stakeholder reporting.
You will play a critical role in maintaining the accuracy of financial records, supporting monthly reporting, and ensuring efficient finance operations across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities of the Role:
- Financial Reporting and Timely Distribution: Collaborate closely with Finance leadership to ensure timely completion and distribution of statutory financial accounts, monthly management accounts, forecasts, and budgets. Assist budget holders and managers by addressing queries related to financial performance and budget management.
- Accurate Income and Cost Recognition: Ensure that income and costs are correctly recognized in the appropriate accounting periods.
- Internal Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Generate and report on internal KPIs to maintain operational stability and support forecasting.
- Oversight of Banking, Cash, Sales, and Purchase Ledger: Provide oversight and support for banking and cash management, as well as sales and purchase ledger processes.
- Cash Flow Management: Take responsibility for cash flow preparation and monitoring.
- Payroll Support: Handle finance transactions related to payroll requirements, including support for Payroll.
- Month-End Journal Entries: Calculate and post monthly period-end journal accruals, prepayments, and depreciation. Reconcile control accounts, monitor outstanding entries, and ensure timely month-end completion.
- Risk and Opportunity Awareness: Keep the finance leadership informed about identified risks and opportunities related to transaction processing.
- Auditor Interaction: Assist in interactions with internal and external auditors, as well as HMRC. Collaborate with other third parties as needed.
- Effective Communication: Liaise with other departments and teams to ensure seamless financial operations.
