Electrician – On‑Site Position
TEMP POSITION _ Ongoing work_ 39 Hours per week
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Electrician to join our team at a secure, high‑priority facility at HMP Wymott
This role supports the safe, compliant operation of a secure environment, ensuring all planned, reactive and statutory electrical work is completed to a high standard.
Hours: 39 hours per week (across 7 days where a weekend shift pattern applies)
Role Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and preventative electrical maintenance
- Diagnose and replace failed electrical components within domestic‑style and commercial systems
- Respond to breakdowns promptly, following Safe Systems of Work
- Undertake electrical installation in accordance with IET Wiring Regulations
- Test and inspect electrical installations compliant with IEE standards
- Actively fault‑find and problem‑solve across electrical systems
- Monitor and order critical electrical spares
- Complete all work within required timescales and contract specifications
- Maintain accurate operation and maintenance records and logs
- Support zero‑carbon and sustainability initiatives where required
- Ensure the highest standards of Health & Safety across all tasks
Note: Security clearance will be required for this role (full support will be provided).
About You
We want to hear from you if you have:
- A relevant technical qualification such as City & Guilds 2365 (Parts 1–3), BTEC or NVQ Level 3
- BS7671 – 18th Edition (or 17th Edition with willingness to upgrade)
- Experience in electrical maintenance, installation, testing and distribution systems
- Knowledge of the Electricity at Work Regulations
- Ability to work at height
- Confidence working independently and using initiative
- Experience in a commercial maintenance environment (desired)
- IT skills, and ideally experience with fire alarm or CCTV systems (training provided)
