Your team: Group Finance is a key function with oversight of all areas of the business, facilitating regular and direct liaison with the CFO.
Your Role: In this exciting role supporting the Head of Finance, Group Reporting, you will gain a comprehensive view of the business by assisting in processing and delivering regular P&L performance reporting and current-year forecasting. You will work closely with the CFO and provide vital ad hoc analysis to support the CEO in high-level decision-making, directly impacting the strategic direction of the group.
Day to day you will:
Prepare and analyse the weekly P&L for the CFO, understanding the full P&Ls for the News UK business encompassing print, digital, print operations, brand extensions, Wireless, and TV.
Coordinate the month-end close process, taking ownership of PLVAR summaries and confidently leading the monthly PLVAR meeting.
Update and maintain the P&L rolling forecast while liaising with the cashflow team to effectively track mitigating actions.
Assist with the comprehensive analysis and completion of narratives for the quarter-end conference call, presentation deck, and investor relations questions.
Identify and develop critical process improvements, taking the initiative to investigate financial solutions via TM1 development.
What we're looking for from you:
Qualified accountant with two to five years PQE.
Experience coordinating comprehensive financial information involving multiple business areas.
Strong accounting skills paired with commercial awareness to effectively analyse variances against expectations and drive business growth.
Demonstrated IT literacy in Excel, alongside ideally SAP and TM1, enabling you to produce clear, actionable financial reports.
Ability to proactively build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, giving you the tenacity to confidently challenge processes at all levels and realise process efficiency.
