Sports Coach Wanted – Inspire the Next Generation
Are you a Sports Coach, PE Graduate, Fitness Instructor, or Youth Worker looking to bring your coaching skills into a secondary school environment?
We are recruiting a motivated Secondary Sports Teaching Assistant to support students aged 11–16 across Newport and surrounding areas. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about sport, coaching, mentoring young people, physical education, football coaching, rugby coaching, sports development, and behaviour support.
Key Responsibilities
- Support PE lessons across Key Stages 3 & 4
- Deliver and assist with sports sessions, coaching activities, and extracurricular clubs
- Mentor and motivate students through sport and physical activity
- Support pupils with SEN, ALN, SEMH, and behavioural needs
- Promote positive behaviour, teamwork, confidence, and wellbeing
- Work closely with PE teachers and pastoral teams
- Support safeguarding and student welfare procedures
Requirements
- Experience in sports coaching, PE, fitness, youth work, mentoring, or education
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to engage and motivate young people
- Reliable, professional, and resilient approach
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection
