With continued growth and major contract wins, we’re looking for a Stores Operative to play a vital role in supporting our field engineering teams across the West Midlands.
This isn’t just a warehouse role. You’ll be at the centre of day-to-day operations, ensuring materials, equipment, and vehicles are ready when they’re needed. From stock control to yard management, you’ll help keep everything running smoothly and efficiently on site. What you’ll be doing
- Maintain stock levels of materials and equipment to support field engineering activities
- Ensure all stock movements are accurately recorded in real time
- Carry out monthly stock audits and maintain high levels of stock accuracy
- Organise and control incoming materials from suppliers, ensuring everything is checked and accounted for
- Prepare materials for use in line with operational requirements
- Assist with loading and unloading vehicles for civils and cable gangs
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe yard and warehouse environment
- Monitor stock levels, manage shortages, and escalate issues where required
- Work closely with Planning, Purchasing, and Operations to keep works on track
- Prepare and dispatch shipments, ensuring deliveries are right first time and in full
- Complete all relevant paperwork and liaise with couriers and third parties
- Control and issue plant and line equipment
- Ensure site security is maintained at all times to protect stock integrity
- Follow health & safety procedures and report any risks or concerns
About you
- Experience working in a stores, warehouse, or logistics environment
- Methodical and organised, with strong attention to detail
- Able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting
- Hands-on approach with a strong work ethic
- Good communication skills and able to work as part of a team
- Basic IT skills, including MS Office / Excel
- Full, clean driving licence
- Forklift licence (preferred)
