Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Project Design Engineer specialising in industrial ovens and dryers. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing innovative, efficient, and reliable thermal processing solutions. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, analyse, and optimise systems, ensuring they meet client specifications and industry standards. The ideal applicant will possess strong technical expertise in system design and a comprehensive understanding of mechanical and electrical components within industrial environments.
Responsibilities
Design & Engineering
- Lead the design and development of industrial ovens and dryers from concept through to production, ensuring adherence to project specifications and quality standards.
- Prepare detailed 2D/3D CAD models, fabrication drawings, P&IDs, and general arrangement drawings.
- Select appropriate materials, components, and heat sources (electric, gas, infrared, steam, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards (CE, ATEX, ISO, ASME, etc.) and customer-specific requirements.
- Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and coordinate with procurement for component sourcing.
Project Management
- Work closely with the sales and proposals team to review specifications and develop design concepts and cost estimates.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all designs meet company quality standards and safety regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses for thermal equipment.
- Participate in design reviews, FMEA, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Customer & Supplier Interface
- Communicate with clients to understand requirements, resolve technical queries, and present design proposals.
- Collaborate with component suppliers and subcontractors for specialized equipment integration.
- Liaise with production, fabrication, and installation teams to ensure design intent and manufacturability.
- Monitor project progress, design changes, and documentation updates.
- Provide technical support during fabrication, assembly, testing, and commissioning phases.
- Prepare technical documentation, operating manuals, and project reports.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
- Minimum 3–5 years experience in industrial equipment design (preferably ovens, dryers, or furnaces).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Experience preparing engineering documentation (BOMs, drawings, specifications).
Desirable:
- Experience with control systems integration (temperature controllers, PLCs, sensors).
- Knowledge of fabrication processes (sheet metal, insulation, ducting, fans).
- Familiarity with CE marking, Machinery Directive, and ATEX requirements.
- Project management experience.

Pay: £26,691.22-£40,000.00 per year
