Role Overview
As a Business Development Manager (BDM) for Sefton based drinks wholesaler, you will be a primary driver of growth for our beverage portfolio in the on-trade sector (pubs, bars, restaurants, and hotels). This is a high-autonomy, field-based role focused on opening new accounts, reactivating dormant clients, and nurturing long-term partnerships through expert category knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
- New Business Acquisition: Identify, prospect, and secure new accounts through a "hunter" mentality, including cold calling and face-to-face pitching.
- Account Management: Nurture a portfolio of existing customers, ensuring exceptional service and identifying opportunities for upselling or range expansion.
- Territory Strategy: Manage a designated geographic area independently, balancing field visits with structured sales activities to meet weekly volume and revenue targets.
- Category Expertise: Arrange staff training and wine/beer tastings for clients, providing advice on all matters regarding the on-trade using our vast support network.
- Commercial Negotiation: Negotiate pricing, supply deals, and stocking agreements to ensure maximum profitability for both the business and the client.
- Market Intelligence/Research: Stay ahead of industry trends, competitor activities, and new product launches to inform sales strategies.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Revenue Growth: Achievement of monthly and quarterly sales revenue targets from new and existing business.
- New Account Openings: Number of successful "new taps" or wine listings secured per period.
- Customer Retention: Success rate in maintaining repeat business and reactivating dormant accounts.
Pipeline Velocity: The speed at which leads move from initial contact to a closed deal.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Industry Experience: Proven track record in beverage sales is preferable, however if you can demonstrate core values such as experience in field sales, integrity and work ethic we would welcome your application.
- Skills: Exceptional negotiation, relationship-building, and communication skills.
- Resilience: A self-motivated, "can-do" attitude with the ability to work under pressure and hit targets.
- Logistics: A full driving licence and the ability to travel extensively within the assigned territory.
Salary & Benefits
- Base Salary: Dependant on your experience and ability.
- Incentives: Uncapped commission structures.
- Other: Company vehicle is provided along with a mobile phone and laptop/tablet.
Pay: £24,577.04-£44,864.23 per year
