Job Summary
My client is looking for a capable and motivated Private Client Tax Advisor to join their team and help manage a growing portfolio of personal and trust tax clients. This is a compliance lead role with real breadth- you will be involved in a wide range of work , support the partners on tax planning matters, and develop your skills and experience in a collaborative and supportive environment
Key responsibilities include :
Tax Compliance
- Preparation and submission of self-assessment tax returns for a varied portfolio of individual clients, including those with property income, investment income, and capital gains
- Preparation and submission of a number of straightforward trust tax returns (SA900) as part of the wider compliance caseload
- Managing tax payment schedules and dealing with routine HMRC correspondence on behalf of clients
Tax Planning Support
- Assisting the partners in providing advice on inheritance tax (IHT), including common planning strategies such as gifts, exemptions, and the use of trusts
- Supporting partners with capital gains tax (CGT) planning for clients, including residential property disposals and investment portfolios
- Contributing to estate planning advice under partner supervision, helping to draft clear summaries and letters for clients
Overseas Property
- Assisting clients who own property abroad with the UK tax treatment of overseas rental income and gains, with guidance from the partners where needed
- Developing an awareness of relevant double tax treaties and when specialist overseas advice may be required
Partner & Referral Relationship Support
- Working alongside the partners of the Wills and Trusts Estate Planning Partnership to ensure new referrals are handled promptly and professionally
- Attending client meetings with partners where tax input is helpful, and supporting the preparation of tax sections within estate planning reports
Client Service
- Providing a responsive and professional service to clients, dealing with queries clearly and accurately
- Building positive working relationships with clients over time, with a view to taking on greater responsibility as experience grows
- Communicating tax matters in plain English, avoiding unnecessary jargon
- Prepare and review personal tax returns for private clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant legislation.
- Provide bespoke tax planning advice to optimise clients’ financial positions, including estate planning and wealth management strategies.
- Analyse clients’ financial data using accounting software such as Sage, Xero, and QuickBooks to identify opportunities for tax efficiency.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes related to client accounts, maintaining precise records.
- Assist clients with financial planning activities, including investment considerations and retirement planning.
- Keep abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations affecting private clients, ensuring all advice remains compliant.
- Collaborate with other financial professionals to deliver comprehensive client solutions.
Experience
- ATT qualified
- Actively studying for CTA
- ACA or ACCA qualified with strong private client tax experience
Pay: £50,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
