About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child Care Assistant to join our home nursery team. You will work alongside the nursery manager to provide high-quality, nurturing care for children aged under five in a warm, safe, and stimulating home environment. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference in young children's lives during their crucial early years.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day care of children in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and our nursery's policies. Your duties will include planning and delivering age-appropriate activities that promote learning and development across all seven areas of the EYFS curriculum. You'll maintain a safe and hygienic environment, assisting with cleaning, meal preparation, and nappy changes as required.
Building positive relationships with both children and their families is essential to this role. You will communicate regularly with parents about their child's progress and wellbeing, maintaining confidentiality at all times. You'll also contribute to creating individual learning plans, observing and documenting children's development, and supporting children with additional needs as directed. Maintaining detailed and accurate records, following safeguarding procedures, and promoting good behaviour and discipline through positive reinforcement are important aspects of the position.
Required Qualifications & Experience
You must hold a current Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in childcare, early education, or an equivalent recognised qualification. First Aid certification (Paediatric First Aid preferred) and enhanced DBS clearance are essential. Previous experience working in a childcare setting, whether in a nursery, school, or home-based environment, is required.
Personal Qualities
The ideal candidate will be patient, energetic, and genuinely enjoy working with young children. You should demonstrate strong communication skills, reliability, and the ability to work well as part of a team. You'll need to be organised, flexible, and calm under pressure. A commitment to safeguarding children and a genuine passion for early childhood development are essential.
