As part of our continued investment in manufacturing technology we are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our growing team.
This is a key role within the business, combining CAD design, CNC programming, production planning and manufacturing improvement. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting our manufacturing operations, introducing new technology and helping shape the future of our production facilities.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining engineering drawings, CNC punch programs, nesting layouts, manufacturing data and production schedules to support efficient manufacturing operations.
Working closely with Production, Sales and Management teams, you will ensure customer orders are planned, programmed and manufactured efficiently whilst maximising machine utilisation, material yield and production performance.
You will also support the introduction of new machinery, tooling and manufacturing processes as Tamlex continues to invest in advanced manufacturing technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain 2D and 3D CAD drawings and engineering documentation.
- Generate CNC punch programs using Amada VPSS4ie software.
- Develop and optimise nesting layouts to maximise material utilisation.
- Raise and manage manufacturing works orders.
- Produce and maintain production schedules for CNC manufacturing operations.
- Plan and prioritise manufacturing workloads to meet customer delivery requirements.
- Monitor machine loading, manufacturing capacity and workflow efficiency.
- Work closely with Production, Purchasing and Sales teams to ensure materials and capacity are available.
- Maintain bills of materials, engineering data and product specifications.
- Manage engineering drawing revisions and manufacturing documentation.
- Support new product development and product improvements.
- Assist with the introduction of new machinery, tooling and manufacturing processes.
- Investigate and resolve manufacturing and production issues.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality and manufacturing efficiency.
- Support continuous improvement projects throughout the business.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in a Manufacturing Engineer, CAD Engineer, Production Engineer or CNC Programming role.
- Hands-on experience using Amada VPSS4ie Blanking Software.
- Experience creating CNC punch programs and nesting sheet metal components.
- Strong understanding of sheet metal manufacturing processes.
- Experience of production planning within a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong organisational, planning and problem-solving skills.
- Good IT skills and experience using CAD software.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience with RADAN software.
- Experience with Trumpf TruTops or Boost software.
- Experience working with CNC punch machinery and automation systems.
- Knowledge of steel fabrication or cable management products.
- Experience implementing manufacturing improvements and lean manufacturing techniques.
- Experience supporting capital equipment projects and new machinery installations.
