Job Overview:
Little Squirrels Play Forest is seeking a Nursery Cook, Monday - Friday. As a nursery we acknowledge and understand the importance that early years experiences have on children’s development and intrinsic to that is the importance of our children having a diverse and healthy diet. As a Chef, you will be responsible for food preparation for roughly 80 children per day. Your role will involve ensuring food safety standards are met, ordering and stock check, food preparation and editing menus.
Duties:
- Prepare and cook a variety of homemade dishes according to recipes and quality standards
- Ensure proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices are followed
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as necessary
- Collaborate with management to develop new menu items.
- Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, maintaining all food hygiene documentation and adhering to food hygiene requirements.
-Understanding and implementation of allergen controls
-At times involving children in the cooking process
Skills:
- Strong culinary skills - ability to cook meals from scratch
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
- Ability to effectively time manage to ensure meals are ready on time
- Creativity and ability to develop new recipes and menu items
- Understanding of portion control
