About the Role
Are you a confident and reliable Cover Supervisor looking for flexible and rewarding work across Reading schools? ANZUK are actively recruiting experienced Cover Supervisors to supervise classes and support pupils across a range of secondary schools throughout Reading.
As a Cover Supervisor in Reading, you will play a vital role in ensuring the continuity of learning across the school day, supervising classes in the absence of the class teacher and ensuring pupils remain focused, engaged and on task. This is a fantastic opportunity for those looking to gain valuable classroom experience or for experienced Cover Supervisors seeking flexible work across a variety of school settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage classes in the absence of the class teacher
- Distribute and oversee the completion of pre-prepared work and learning tasks
- Maintain a calm, focused and productive classroom environment
- Monitor and manage pupil behaviour in line with the school's behaviour policy
- Take accurate registers and report any concerns to the relevant member of staff
- Support pupils who require additional assistance with set tasks
- Liaise with school staff and administration to ensure smooth cover arrangements
- Uphold the ethos, values and expectations of each school
Requirements
- Previous experience working in a school or educational setting
- Confidence and ability to manage a classroom independently
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills
- A calm, professional and adaptable approach
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff quickly
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable
- Experience as a Teaching Assistant, HLTA or Cover Supervisor
- Knowledge of the National Curriculum across primary and/or secondary phases
- Experience working across multiple year groups and subject areas
- A relevant qualification in education or childcare
