Mechanical Technician / Pipe Fitter
Location: Mobile covering the Luton area
Salary: £38,000 - £44,000 per annum (DOE) + Overtime + Excellent Benefits
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Technician / Pipe Fitter to join a growing HVAC and Building Services Projects Team delivering high-value commercial installations across Southern England.
Working on projects valued up to £2 million, you will be involved in the installation and commissioning of energy-efficient mechanical systems for a portfolio of prestigious commercial clients. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship, enjoys technical challenges, and wants to be part of a progressive business focused on innovation and decarbonisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Install steel barrel, carbon steel, and copper pipework up to 6" (DN150) using:
- Pressfit
- Threaded
- Flanged
- Compression
- Solder/Brazing
- Install plastic pipework (PVC, MDPE, etc.) using solvent weld and mechanical systems
- Accurately install pipework supports and bracketry to professional standards
- Interpret and work from technical drawings and pipe schematics
- Install and commission system components, including:
- Pumps, plate heat exchangers, expansion vessels
- Valves, strainers, sensors, and control instrumentation
- Manage on-site materials and hired equipment
- Maintain project productivity, manage minor variations, and minimise material waste
- Produce written progress reports for the project manager
- Ensure full compliance with H&S policies and contribute to RAMS as needed
- Support junior team members where appropriate

Qualifications & Experience Essential
- City & Guilds in Plumbing, Pipework Fabrication, or NVQ Level 2 (or above) in a related trade
- Full UK Driving Licence
