Location: Service user’s home / Residential settings
Working Hours: Variable shift patterns based on service needs
Rate of Pay: £14.60 per hour
Guyatt House Care LTD is seeking dedicated and highly skilled Waking Night Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) Workers to join our specialised team. This role is critical for providing high-quality, person-centred support during night-time hours, ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and dignity of individuals with complex needs, learning disabilities, and autism. You will work as part of a clinical and operational framework to implement proactive strategies that reduce behaviours of concern and promote independence.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to-
1. Dedicated 1:1 Support
- Deliver consistent 1:1 support to individuals as specified in their care provision.
- Maintain a therapeutic and calm environment during night-time hours to support healthy sleep hygiene and emotional regulation.
- Build strong, professional relationships based on trust, ensuring the individual feels safe and supported throughout the night.
2. Implementation of PBS Strategies
- Strictly adhere to and implement individualised Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) plans.
- Utilize proactive and primary prevention strategies to minimize triggers and environmental stressors.
- Apply approved de-escalation techniques and secondary strategies when behaviours of concern arise, ensuring the least restrictive practice is always prioritised.
3. Night-Time Risk Management
- Provide vigilant supervision to manage specific night-time risks, including high risks of absconding.
- Respond effectively to environmental risks and maintain awareness of "stranger danger" or community safety concerns for the individual.
- Follow dynamic risk assessments agreed upon by the internal and external Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT).
4. Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate, contemporaneous, and objective records of all night-time activities.
- Complete detailed ABC (Antecedent-Behaviour-Consequence) charts and incident reports on systems such as Access or Connect Teams.
- Ensure all handover information is comprehensive to facilitate continuity of care for the daytime staff.
5. Professional Standards and Safety
- Liaise with the PBS Practitioner and clinical leads to provide feedback on the effectiveness of strategies.
- Ensure that any injury to staff or significant incidents are reported immediately for insurance and legal compliance.
- Participate in specialized staff training as required to maintain and upskill clinical competencies.
