Aspira Education are recruiting for a compassionate, resilient and proactive Family Support Officer to work within a specialist education setting supporting pupils with autism, SEMH and communication needs.
This is a long-term opportunity for somebody passionate about improving outcomes for young people and supporting families through education, emotional wellbeing and multi-agency collaboration.
About the Role
As a Family Support Officer you will:
- Work closely with pupils, families and school staff to provide ongoing emotional and practical support.
- Build positive working relationships with parents, carers and external agencies.
- Support attendance, behaviour and engagement strategies for vulnerable pupils.
- Help families access additional services and support networks where required.
- Attend meetings, reviews and safeguarding discussions when needed.
- Support pupils with emotional regulation, communication and behaviour needs.
- Promote a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment for all pupils.
This is a varied and highly rewarding role requiring empathy, resilience and strong communication skills.
About the Setting
This role is based within a specialist education environment supporting children and young people with autism, SEMH and associated communication or behavioural needs.
The provision focuses on therapeutic and relational approaches, helping pupils feel safe, understood and able to achieve both academically and emotionally.

The ideal candidate will:
✔ Have experience supporting vulnerable children or families
✔ Understand SEMH, autism and behavioural needs
✔ Be calm, empathetic and emotionally resilient
✔ Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills
✔ Be confident working with external professionals and agencies
✔ Be organised, proactive and solution-focused
Experience within SEN environments is highly desirable.
All Applicants Must Have
- The right to work in the UK
- A fully enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
- Two recent references
- A willingness to complete safeguarding training with Aspira
- A full UK driving licence is desirable
