Job Overview
Intrelec Ltd is seeking two highly reliable and technically capable Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technicians / Automation Engineers to support the planned and reactive maintenance of a critical automated gate and kiosk system at DP World London Gateway Port.
This is a unique opportunity to join at the early stages of a major maintenance contract supporting critical UK infrastructure. The role offers excellent long-term career potential, including progression into senior and team leadership positions as the contract expands into additional ports and automated facilities.
The successful candidates will play a key role in maintaining operational uptime across automated access systems used in one of the UK’s busiest logistics hubs.
Given the critical nature of the site, reliability, problem-solving ability, and a strong sense of ownership are essential.
The role operates on a rotating shift basis between two engineers:
Week 1: 06:00 – 14:00
Week 2: 14:00 – 22:00
Shift rotation weekly.
Planned Preventive Maintenance
- Carry out scheduled maintenance inspections and servicing
- Complete annual preventive maintenance according to checklists
- Clean, inspect and test system components
- Produce maintenance reports and records
Reactive Maintenance / Fault Response
Diagnose and repair faults affecting automated gate and kiosk systems, including:
Camera Gate Systems
- Camera repositioning and focusing
- Alignment of segmentation sensors
- Sick sensor calibration
- Replacement of:
- * Heaters
- * Power supplies
- * Carriers
- * Flash cards (including IP configuration)
- * Camera heads
- * Camera fans
- * Floodlights
- * Traffic lights
- * LED controllers
- * Barrier controllers
- * Relays / Wagos
- * Air conditioning units
Kiosk Systems
Replacement and maintenance of:
* Embedded units
* Printers
* Intercoms
* Card readers
* Barcode readers
* Screens
* Biometric devices
* Power supplies
* Beacon lights
* Flash cards (including IP configuration)
* Paper roll holders
* Component box locks
* Gas springs / rails
Additional Duties
* Fault finding on electrical and low-voltage systems
* Basic networking and IP configuration
* Work at height using MEWP / access equipment
* Liaise with remote service desk support
* Assist in development of maintenance procedures
* Support ongoing improvements in uptime and reliability

Candidate Requirements
Essential:
* Strong electrical fault-finding ability
* Mechanical maintenance experience
* Computer literate with basic networking / IP configuration knowledge
* Experience with automation, control systems, gates, access control, or industrial equipment
* Full UK driving licence
* Ability to work independently and under pressure
* Strong communication and reporting skills
* High level of reliability and professionalism
Desirable:
* 18th Edition
* IPAF
* ECS / CSCS
* Confined Space
* Industrial / port / logistics experience
* CCTV / ANPR / access control experience
* PLC / controls experience

* Work will include outdoor activities in all weather conditions
* Work at height may be required, including crane structures approaching 120m
* Safety-critical environment

* Out-of-hours call-out attendance within agreed SLA
