Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Crematorium Assistant & Driver to support our team in providing respectful and dignified services. This role involves collecting beloved pets from veterinary practices and owner's homes , ensuring that all processes are carried out with the utmost professionalism and sensitivity. The successful candidate will play a vital part in maintaining the smooth running of our crematorium while upholding the highest standards of care and respect for bereaved families.
The role includes, but not limited to:
- Collecting deceased pets from veterinary practices, owner's homes etc in a dignified manner
- Hand delivering pet's ashes to veterinary practices and owner's homes
- Creating Paw Prints, Clay Prints, Nose Prints, taking fur clippings etc
- Handling and delivering of stock
- Stock checks
- Completing vehicle checks and cleaning
- Be an ambassador for the company
- Check in with vet staff to make sure they have everything they need from us
- Collection of clinical waste for our sister company (ADR training will be provided beforehand)
The candidate must have the following:
- Must be compassionate, and ultimately an animal lover! Understand the trust and emotional aspect of the service, the importance of respect and the responsibility of the role
- Full clean UK driving licence, and ideally 21 years old or older for our vehicle insurance policy
- Be physically fit - there will be a lot of heavy lifting, driving, etc must be capable to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively
- Ability to work as part of a team but predominantly by themselves
- Candidate must be presentable and able to communicate well with clients
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
- Handling deceased pets is not for everyone – if you are squeamish then this may not be the role for you!
- Available to be part of the 'out of hours' and 'on call' rota (occasionally)
- Mature enough to handle people's pets in a caring, dignified, and appropriate manner
- Discretion and respect for confidentiality at all times
