Park Farm Day Nursery are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and caring Cook/Kitchen Assistant to become a valued member of our wonderful nursery team.
Every day, you'll play an important role in creating tasty, home-cooked meals that fuel our children's learning, play and development. You'll work closely alongside our experienced in-house Chef, supporting one another to provide nutritious, freshly prepared meals for our children while maintaining the highest standards of care and food safety. What You'll Be Doing
As our Cook/Kitchen Assistant, you'll:
- Work alongside our in-house Chef to prepare delicious, nutritious home-cooked meals using fresh ingredients.
- Adapt meals to meet children's dietary requirements, allergies, and cultural preferences.
- Maintain the highest standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and kitchen safety.
- Work closely with the Nursery Manager, Chef, and nursery staff to plan and adapt seasonal menus.
- Ensure all dietary information is accurately recorded and followed every day.
- Keep kitchen records and food hygiene documentation up to date.
- Help create a warm, welcoming environment where children's wellbeing comes first.
Working Together
You'll be an important part of our nursery family by:
- Attending staff meetings and training sessions.
- Taking part in appraisals and professional development opportunities.
- Building positive relationships with colleagues.
- Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Joining in with special nursery events such as our Summer Fair, Christmas celebrations, Open Days, and occasional out-of-hours activities.
Health & Safety
You'll share responsibility for ensuring the nursery remains a safe, clean, and hygienic environment, maintaining the highest standards of food safety and helping us uphold our 5-Star Food Hygiene Rating by following all nursery policies, procedures, and food hygiene requirements.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience preparing home-cooked meals from fresh ingredients.
- Is confident catering for allergies, intolerances, and cultural dietary needs.
- Has excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Enjoys working collaboratively as part of a supportive team.
- Brings a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and initiative every day.
- Takes pride in creating healthy, enjoyable meals for children.
Hours
Tuesday to Thursday, 8:30am – 5:00pm
We are closed on weekends, Bank Holidays, and over Christmas, helping you enjoy a great work-life balance. There may also be some flexibility in working hours for the right candidate.
Additional Information
The successful applicant will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check (the cost of the DBS is the responsibility of the successful candidate).
