Overview
We are looking for a cleaning operative, to work Wednesday to Sunday, helping our public toilets be the best they can be. You will be working with a great team.
This is your chance to make a positive difference for York residents and visitors while out and about in our beautiful city. Clean, accessible public toilets can make the difference between a good day out and a difficult one, especially for people who rely more on these facilities, such as parents with children and people with disabilities.
In this job, you are the face of the Company to the public and will need to respond politely to their queries.
What the job involves:
- Keep toilet areas sparkly clean and sanitised, including cubicles, urinals, sinks, floors, walls, mirrors, and touchpoints
- Make sure supplies such as toilet paper, soap, and paper towels are regularly topped up
- Empty waste bins and dispose of waste in accordance with local regulations
- Drive between the units in a Company Van.
- Carry out regular checks of facilities throughout shifts
- Report any damage, faults, or maintenance issues promptly so we can get them fixed
- Ensure cleaning equipment is used safely and stored correctly
- Maintain high standards of hygiene in line with health and safety guidelines
- Check your units for misuse or vandalism and report any concerns
- Follow health and safety guidelines
- Using cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and correctly
What you should be aware of:
The job -
- Will involve driving between units in the Company van.
- Early starts
- Physical work including standing, bending, and lifting
- Use of cleaning chemicals and equipment
What we are looking for:
You will need a current driving license
You don’t need qualifications but experience dealing with the public, cleaning and using cleaning chemicals is an advantage.

Pay: £12.71 per hour
