About the Position
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and motivated SEMH Teacher to join a specialist provision in Manchester from September 2026. The school supports Key Stage 3 students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing a nurturing and structured environment where pupils can achieve both academically and personally.
This role would suit an experienced SEMH practitioner or an Early Career Teacher (ECT) with a genuine interest in supporting young people who may face barriers to learning.
The Role
You will be responsible for delivering engaging and accessible lessons to KS3 pupils, adapting your teaching to meet a wide range of individual needs. Working alongside a dedicated team of support staff and pastoral professionals, you will help create positive learning experiences that encourage confidence, resilience, and progress.
Main Duties
- Deliver high-quality lessons that engage and motivate learners
- Adapt teaching methods and resources to support varying SEMH needs
- Foster positive relationships that help pupils feel safe, valued, and supported
- Implement effective behaviour management strategies and restorative approaches
- Monitor pupil progress and contribute to individual learning plans
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, pastoral teams, and external professionals
- Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment where every student can succeed
Candidate Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status preferred
- ECTs are encouraged to apply
- Experience working with SEMH pupils or vulnerable learners is desirable
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and adaptable in challenging situations
- Commitment to supporting pupils' emotional wellbeing alongside their academic development
