Job Title: Mortgage Paraplanner/ Trainee Mortgage Adviser
Location: Hertford / Hybrid Working (3 days office / 2 days home)
Basic Salary: up to £35,000 Basic Salary (DOE) + £3,000 Bonus

Our client is a well-established, directly authorised financial services firm providing expert advice and tailored financial solutions to a wide range of clients. Specialising in mortgages and protection, the firm prides itself on professionalism, client satisfaction, and delivering a highly personalised service.
Due to continued growth, the business is looking to appoint a Mortgage Paraplanner/ Trainee Mortgage Adviser to support its team of experienced advisers and help deliver an exceptional client experience.
This is a key role within a small, collaborative team, offering genuine long-term career progression. The company provides full study support with funded qualifications, and there is also the potential opportunity to gain a share in the business in the future. The role would suit an experienced mortgage administrator looking to develop into a Mortgage Adviser, as the director is looking to take a step back and pass over his clients.
Salary & Benefits:

Key Responsibilities:
Mortgage Administration
- Manage mortgage applications from initial enquiry through to offer and completion
- Liaise with lenders, clients, solicitors and estate agents to progress cases efficiently
- Submit mortgage applications via lender portals and sourcing systems
- Track and chase outstanding documents, valuations and legal enquiries
- Maintain accurate case records using CRM/back-office systems
- Issue key documentation including mortgage illustrations and ESIS
- Provide regular updates to clients and advisers throughout the application process
- Ensure client files remain compliant with FCA regulations and internal procedures
Paraplanning Support
- Conduct whole-of-market mortgage and protection research
- Prepare suitability reports and recommendation letters for adviser approval
- Analyse client financial information including income, expenditure and credit profile
- Assist advisers with client meeting preparation and review documentation
- Research lender criteria and affordability to identify suitable products
- Support protection recommendations including life cover, critical illness and income protection
Key Requirements:
Essential
- At least 2 years’ experience within mortgage administration or paraplanning
- Strong knowledge of the UK residential mortgage market
- Understanding of FCA regulations and mortgage compliance
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise with clients and lenders
- Experience using mortgage sourcing systems or CRM platforms
Desirable
- Experience preparing mortgage suitability reports
- Knowledge of protection products
- Experience with systems such as Mortgage Brain, Intelliflo or Twenty7Tec
- Experience with buy-to-let or complex income cases
