Primrose Creamery is a small artisan dairy producing raw milk cheeses by hand at the School of Artisan Food on the Welbeck Estate. We are looking for a Junior Cheesemaker to join the team as the business continues to grow. Hours will generally be 8-5 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays but a degree of flexibility is desirable.
This is a hands-on role within a small production environment where you will be involved in all areas of the cheesemaking process. One day might involve making cheese and ladling curd, another washing or wrapping cheeses, packing orders, cleaning equipment or helping prepare for markets and events. No two weeks are quite the same.
We are looking for somebody who is hardworking, reliable and genuinely interested in artisan food production. Experience within cheesemaking is not essential, but a good attitude, attention to detail and willingness to learn absolutely are.
The role would suit somebody from a hospitality, food production, bakery, fermentation or farming background, particularly somebody looking to move into a more craft-focused environment.
What we offer:
- £14/hour starting pay
- Genuine opportunities for pay progression as skills develop
- Training in artisan raw milk cheesemaking
- Staff trips and industry events
- Cheese and food perks
- A small, friendly and supportive working environment
- The chance to be part of a growing artisan food business from an early stage
- Additional hours available seasonally and as the business continues to grow
Please note this is physical, fast-paced work and will involve lifting, repetitive tasks and cleaning duties alongside cheesemaking, but if you come from a hospitality background it will probably still feel considerably calmer than a busy kitchen or service environment.
Pay: £14.00 per hour
Benefits:
- Discounted or free food
- Employee discount
- Free parking
- On-site parking
Work Location: In person
