Children’s Waking Night Therapeutic Support Worker – Autism & Complex Needs
Location: Bury, BL9
Salary: £12.50 – £13.50 per hour
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week (waking night shifts, weekends, and bank holidays on a rota basis)

At Accord Care Homes, we are looking for dedicated Children’s Waking Night Therapeutic Support Workers to join our specialist team supporting a young person on a 3:1 staffing ratio. Our young person has Autism and additional complex needs and requires a consistent, nurturing, and understanding team to support them both during the day and throughout the night.
Night-time can be a particularly vulnerable period for some young people. Your role will be to create a safe, predictable, and therapeutic environment where the young person feels secure, supported, and cared for.
We understand that all behaviour is communication, and we are looking for individuals who can remain calm, observant, and empathetic, responding to the young person’s needs in ways that promote emotional regulation and wellbeing.
Your Role
As a Children’s Waking Night Therapeutic Support Worker, you will:
- Provide attentive overnight support while maintaining a calm, safe, and homely environment
- Carry out regular welfare checks in line with the young person’s care plan and risk assessments
- Offer reassurance and support if the young person wakes during the night or requires assistance
- Support with bedtime and early morning routines where required
- Monitor the young person’s wellbeing, emotional presentation, and any changes in their needs
- Complete accurate records, sleep logs, and incident reports to ensure effective handovers
- Maintain the safety, security, and cleanliness of the home throughout the night
- Work collaboratively with the day team to ensure consistency of care
- Safeguard the young person and promote their rights, wishes, and feelings at all times

Essential Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year’s experience supporting children and young people
- Experience supporting children with Autism, ADHD, trauma, learning disabilities, emotional regulation needs, or other complex needs
- Good understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
- Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, Children & Young People’s Workforce, or equivalent
- Previous experience working within a children’s residential home
- Knowledge of Autism support strategies, sensory needs, and trauma-informed approaches
