Electronics Design Engineer
Location: Chesterfield
Salary: Dependant on Experience
Working Hours: Monday to Friday / 8:00am – 16:30pm

An established engineering business specialising in electronic systems for industrial and heavy-duty applications is looking to strengthen its team with the addition of an Electronics Design Engineer.
You’ll be responsible for developing and refining electronic hardware used in control and monitoring systems. The role is hands-on and suited to someone who enjoys seeing designs move from concept through to practical application.
This role is fully site-based due to the requirement for hands-on development, testing, and use of lab equipment. It would suit someone who prefers practical engineering work.
Key Duties
- Design and develop both analogue and digital circuits for industrial use
- Produce and refine PCB layouts, including more complex multi-layer boards
- Select components with consideration for reliability, availability, and lifecycle
- Work alongside software engineers to ensure effective system integration
- Support build, testing, and validation of prototypes
- Investigate and resolve faults through practical debugging
- Communicate with production teams and external suppliers to support delivery
- Ensure all technical documentation is maintained to required quality standards
Experience Required
- Background in electronics design and development
- Experience producing PCB layouts using industry tools (e.g. Altium, KiCad or similar)
- Understanding of both analogue and digital (mixed-signal) systems
- Confident with hands-on testing, fault finding, and problem solving
- Able to manage your own workload and take responsibility for projects
- Exposure to industrial, automotive, or control system environments (Advantageous)
- Awareness of EMC considerations (Advantageous)
- Knowledge of design for manufacture principles
- Practical, solutions-led mindset with a focus on delivery
- Enjoys working as part of a close-knit engineering team
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is required.
