WHO WE ARE:
Schools Plus was founded in 2004 with a mission to transform community lettings. We convert school facilities into vibrant community hubs outside of school hours. From sports clubs and fitness classes to events and educational activities, we create safe, welcoming environments for a wide range of customers.
We deliver operational excellence and a consistent approach to all our sites with our fantastic teams who are dedicated to transforming community use in schools. Our focus is to enrich the quality of education in communities by generating flexible and sustainable income for our partner schools.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
As a Team Leader, you’ll be the face of Schools Plus on-site. You will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the site during your shifts, including supervising staff and supporting the Area Manager with key operational tasks such as rota planning.
This is a hands-on, varied role. You’ll often work independently, taking ownership of the site and the activities taking place.
You will play a key role in leading and developing your team, delivering staff training, managing customer queries, and building positive relationships with school stakeholders to ensure smooth, hassle-free lettings. You will also support site compliance by ensuring documentation is up to date, staff are well trained, and the site is prepared for audits.
HOURS:
This is a part-time role on a zero-hours contract with between 4-8 hours per week available with mandatory weekend work.
PEOPLE SKILLS:
We’re looking for a confident and approachable individual who can build strong relationships with customers, staff, and school stakeholders.
You’ll have excellent communication skills and be comfortable leading conversations, providing clear direction, and handling queries or issues professionally. A high level of attention to detail is essential, as both our customers and partner schools expect consistently high standards.
As a Team Leader, you’ll also play a key role in supporting and developing your team, so the ability to motivate others and lead by example is important.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
In this role, you’ll be responsible for keeping the site running smoothly and creating a great experience for our customers.
- Leading shifts on-site and ensuring the smooth running of all bookings and activities
- Supervising and supporting Venue Supervisors on busy shifts, providing guidance and direction.
- Carrying out site checks, including regular patrols, to ensure safety and standards are maintained
- Toilet checks
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and presentation across the site
- Managing staff availability and creating rotas to meet operational needs
- Training new team members, including site inductions and ongoing development
- Acting as the main point of contact for customers, handling queries and resolving issues professionally
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with school staff and key stakeholders
- Ensuring the site is compliant and audit-ready, with up-to-date documentation and well-trained staff
- Supporting mock audits and compliance checks where required
This role would suit someone who is confident, organised, and enjoys taking responsibility for both people and operations.
You may already have experience in a supervisory or Team Leader role, or be looking to take the next step from a hands-on operational position. You’ll be comfortable leading a team, working independently, and making decisions.
If you’re proactive, reliable, and take pride in delivering high standards, this could be a great opportunity to develop your leadership skills.
FLEXIBILITY AND COMMITMENT:
This role offers flexibility, with hours based on your availability and the needs of the site. Shifts typically take place in the evenings, weekends, school holidays, and occasionally during the school day.
Once shifts are scheduled, they are mutually committed. We will honour agreed shifts, even in the event of booking changes, and we ask for the same commitment in return.
BE PART OF A TEAM:
You will not only be part of the team at your sites, but you will also be welcomed into the Schools Plus wider team. We’ve been managing lettings for 22 years and we have a terrific support network from your Area Manager to other colleagues across our sites.
GROW WITH US:
This role is a great opportunity to build experience and develop new skills within a supportive environment. Team Leaders have gone on to work in different areas of the business and become Area Managers.
If you’re motivated, reliable, and keen to progress, we’ll support your development through training, guidance, and opportunities to step up and take on more responsibility.
