About the Role
We are looking for an experienced, reliable and flexible Cook to join our friendly team within our residential care home for 16.5 hours per week.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about preparing nutritious, home-cooked meals and understands the importance of providing a high-quality dining experience for our residents. Flexibility is essential, as you will be required to cover staff sickness and annual leave, often at short notice.
You will be responsible for preparing and serving meals that meet residents' dietary needs while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, hygiene and quality. You will also ensure compliance with Care Quality Commission (CQC) and Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC) requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and serve nutritious, high-quality meals in accordance with planned menus and residents' dietary requirements.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised kitchen, ensuring full compliance with food hygiene and health and safety regulations.
- Store, label and rotate food correctly in line with food safety standards.
- Complete all required kitchen documentation, including daily, weekly and monthly records.
- Order food supplies, monitor stock levels and report shortages or out-of-date items.
- Work effectively as part of the care home team to ensure meals are prepared and served on time.
- Complete all mandatory online training and comply with company policies and procedures.
- Maintain compliance with CQC, NCC and all relevant food safety legislation.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience as a Cook within a residential care home or similar care setting (essential).
- A valid Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene Certificate (essential).
- A good understanding of food hygiene, food safety and infection control procedures.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills with a positive, caring and professional attitude.
- Must have the flexibility to work at short notice to cover sickness and annual leave.
