ABOUT THE ROLE:
Join our existing team of passionate and caring support workers, delivering high quality, person-centred 2:1 care to a young person with cerebral palsy and epilepsy. This role offers real responsibility and the chance to develop specialist skills; successful candidates must be able to work independently overnight while being a valued and collaborative member of the daytime team.

PAY:
- Weekdays: £14.00 per hour
- Weekends: £15.00 per hour
- Bank Holidays: £26.00 per hour
Waking Nights:
- Weekdays: £14.00 per hour
- Weekends: £15.00 per hour
SHIFT PATTERNS AND HOURS
- Staff must be available to fulfill 36 hours per week and willing to work flexibly with a mix of day shifts and waking night shifts, depending on term times and family needs.
- This role operates on a flexible rota with no set fixed days per week. Shifts are arranged collaboratively to ensure consistent coverage.
- Rota is provided a month in advance for effective planning
ABOUT OUR CLIENT:
Our client is a loving 16-year-old with the biggest personality. He loves a cuddle, fake sneezes, and anything that makes funny noises!
He loves watching his favourite programmes on YouTube, and having down time with his iPad or projector.
He enjoys beach trips and spending time outdoors in nature, and is always at his happiest exploring somewhere new, especially if there is a waterfall involved.
He thrives on interaction and games with his team, and loves being out of his chair for a good stretch and roll around.
He is developing strong communication aid skills and is an expert at non-verbal communication too. Like many teenagers, he has his moments, but responds well to patience and positive engagement.
YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Medication administration, feeds, and all aspects of personal care.
- Support with full 2:1 moving and handling using hoists.
- Monitor and respond to epilepsy-related events overnight if required.
- Support communication via a grid pad and encourage participation as appropriate.
- Maintain records, work to PBS plan and follow safeguarding practice.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 1 year care experience (informal experience acceptable)
- Physically fit and confident with full 2:1 moving and handling as our client's cerebral palsy causes sporadic limb movements.
- Clear spoken English
- Patient and emotionally steady, our client can at times feel frustrated, which is understandable given his age and the constant support he needs.
- Must be fully flexible across a changing 36-hour rota with no fixed days
- Able to work independently overnight and as part of a team
- Someone who enjoys interaction, patience and building rapport with young people.
- Willingness to train in specialist clinical skills
- Driver essential. Vehicle: VW Crafter [automatic]. Insurance age requirement 25+
- Comfortable working around a busy family home with our client's parents, younger brother, and three lively, loving spaniels.
