Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dog Groomer to join our professional pet care team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal welfare and possess the skills necessary to provide high-quality grooming services. The Dog Groomer will be responsible for ensuring each pet receives personalised grooming tailored to their breed and individual needs, contributing to their health and well-being.
This role is for 30 hours per week with overtime. CPD, Paid Birthday Leave & Paid Massage all part of our Dog Groomers Package.
Responsibilities
- Bathing, drying, and brushing dogs of various breeds and sizes using appropriate techniques and products
- Trimming, clipping, and styling coats according to breed standards or customer preferences
- Checking pets for signs of health issues such as skin irritations, parasites, or abnormalities, and reporting concerns to the veterinary team when necessary
- Maintaining a clean and hygienic grooming area, including sterilising tools and equipment after each use
- Providing excellent customer service by discussing grooming preferences with pet owners and offering advice on pet hygiene and care
- Handling animals with patience, kindness, and professionalism to minimise stress during grooming procedures
- Assisting with the organisation of appointments and managing scheduling efficiently
Experience
- Prior veterinary experience or background in animal care is highly desirable
- Previous experience in dog grooming or a related field is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
- Strong understanding of different dog breeds, coat types, and grooming requirements
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary, such as lifting large or heavy dogs onto grooming tables
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with pet owners
- Compassionate attitude towards animals with a genuine interest in their wellbeing
