Veterinary Surgeon (Consulting Focus) - Burnley
Consulting-led role, no out-of-hours, genuine flexibility, strong clinical support
Looking for a role where you can focus on being a vet, not firefighting?
If you enjoy building relationships with clients, making thoughtful clinical decisions, and actually having time to do both well, this could be the reset you have been looking for.
The Opportunity
We are working with a well-established, RCVS-accredited small animal practice in East Lancashire that has built its reputation on doing things properly. Not rushed. Not transactional. Just good veterinary care, delivered by people who support each other.
This role is centred around consulting at a busy, well-equipped branch, giving you the space to focus on patient care and client communication. It is ideal for a vet who enjoys the thinking side of practice, forming continuity with clients, and being part of a team that values collaboration over pressure.
You will be joining a large, cohesive team that works across multiple sites, with the support of experienced colleagues and certificate holders in key disciplines. It is the kind of environment where you can ask questions, develop your interests, and feel part of something stable and well run.
Why This Role Is Different
A True Consulting Focus
A role designed around consultations and clinical decision-making, not squeezing everything into an overloaded day. If you want to maintain surgical skills, there is flexibility to include routine procedures.
No Out-of-Hours, Real Work-Life Balance
Your time outside work is protected. A dedicated in-house OOH service handles emergencies, allowing you to switch off properly when you leave.
A Team That Functions as One
Around 65 team members working across branches, creating a genuinely collaborative culture. You are supported by experienced vets, skilled RVNs, and colleagues with certificates in medicine, dentistry, and ECC.
Well-Equipped, Without the Chaos
Access to facilities including digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, dental suite with x-ray, in-house labs, and dedicated surgical theatres. Everything you need to practice good medicine, without unnecessary stress.
A Location That Gives You Options
Based in East Lancashire, with easy access to the Ribble Valley, the Pennines, and well-connected routes to Manchester and Leeds. Whether you prefer countryside or city access, you are not compromising.
Your Journey Here
In Your First Month
You will get to know the team, the client base, and how the practice runs day to day. Time is given to settle in properly, not rushed into full capacity.
In Your First 3 Months
You will be confidently running consults, building client relationships, and contributing to case discussions. You will start exploring CPD areas that genuinely interest you.
In Your First 6 Months
You will feel fully embedded in the team, trusted by clients, and shaping how you want your role to develop, whether that includes further clinical interests or additional responsibilities.
