Job Overview
We are seeking a General Workshop Operative to join the team, manufacturing natural, quartz & porcelain worktops across a range of domestic and commercial projects. This is a hands-on position suitable for someone who works well as part of a team, follows instructions diligently, and takes pride in delivering a quality finish to a high standard of safety and workmanship.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the day-to-day activities with the workshop.
- Support skilled fabricators and installers as needed.
- Operate a range of hand tools and workshop equipment safely.
- Own the Cambrian quality policy, ensuring every completed top meets our standards before loading for fitting or delivery.
- Keep the work area clean, tidy, and safe, following all health and safety procedures and using the correct PPE.
- Safely handle and move heavy stone pieces using appropriate lifting equipment and safe manual handling techniques.
- Load & unload deliveries, checking materials for quality and accuracy.
- Learn the processes and become a skilled member of the team.
Requirements
- Experience in a workshop, manufacturing or construction environment desired, further training will be provided
- Previous hands‑on experience using hand tools
- Good attention to detail with a focus on producing high‑quality finishes.
- Ability to read and follow job instructions, drawings, and work orders.
- Physically capable of safely handling and working with heavy materials.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team in a busy production environment.
- Positive attitude, good communication skills, and a desire to build a long‑term career with Cambrian Granite.
