Silverwood Recruitment is delighted to be partnering with a rapidly growing organisation within the energy sector to recruit an Energy Trading Analyst . This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced analyst to play a key role in shaping trading strategy within a fast-moving and innovative market.
This position offers the chance to work at the intersection of energy trading, analytics, and technology, collaborating closely with engineering teams to enhance automated trading strategies and maximise portfolio performance.
The Opportunity
As a Trading Analyst, you will support the optimisation of a growing trading portfolio by identifying market opportunities, analysing performance data, and collaborating with engineering teams to improve trading algorithms.
You will operate within the GB power market, focusing particularly on short-term power trading, helping to drive commercial performance and ensure accurate execution of day-to-day trading activity.
Key Responsibilities
- Work alongside an automated trading platform to provide real-time market insight and portfolio support
- Identify new trading opportunities to increase revenue and achieve commercial targets
- Analyse market trends and collaborate with data engineering teams to develop and improve trading models
- Monitor portfolio performance and contribute to regular trading and performance reporting
- Support the trading team with collateral management and portfolio oversight
- Investigate market behaviour and communicate insights across the trading team
- Ensure the accurate execution of trading activities
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking a motivated and analytical professional with experience in GB energy trading, particularly within short-term power markets.
Essential
- Degree in a numerate or relevant discipline
- Strong analytical capability and critical thinking skills
- Experience operating within the GB energy market, ideally in a front-office trading environment
- Experience with short-term power trading
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical and commercial teams
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and deliver results
Desirable
- 3+ years’ experience in the GB energy market
- Experience working in a product or engineering-led environment
- Exposure to Virtual Power Plants (VPPs)
Working Arrangements
- Hybrid working model – minimum of three days per week in the Belfast office
- Tuesday is the company anchor day
- Some staggered or flexible hours may be required to cover relevant trading auctions
