Overview
We are seeking a skilled MOT Tester/Mechanic to join our automotive service team. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience in vehicle maintenance and testing. Duties
- Conduct MOT tests on a variety of vehicles in accordance with legal and safety standards
- Perform general vehicle repairs and maintenance, including brake, suspension, and exhaust systems
- Use hand tools and power tools to carry out inspections, repairs, and adjustments
- Identify faults through diagnostic procedures and recommend appropriate solutions
- Assist with vehicle servicing, including oil changes, tyre replacements, and fluid top-ups
- Maintain accurate records of all inspections, repairs, and services performed
- Ensure workshop cleanliness and adhere to health and safety regulations at all times
- Assist with heavy lifting tasks related to vehicle parts or equipment when necessary
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a mechanic or MOT tester with relevant certifications
- Mechanical knowledge of various vehicle systems and components
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools effectively and safely
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling vehicle parts or equipment
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills
- Good communication skills to liaise effectively with colleagues and customers
- Valid MOT tester certification is desirable but not essential; training can be provided for the right candidate
