Overview
J.A.K Roofing Ltd are a family run roofing business based in Northampton with over 40 years collective roofing industry experience.
We are seeking, on a temporary basis of approximately 6 weeks, a skilled and reliable Class 2 Hiab Truck Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial driving, particularly with flatbed vehicles, and a strong commitment to delivering goods safely and efficiently. As a Delivery Driver, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our products reach our customers on time while adhering to all safety regulations and company policies.
The role involves driving our 18 tonne Hiab lorry to complete the customer deliveries to building sites, private addresses and new developments. You will be driving our company vehicle for deliveries to Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Leicestershire, Buckinghamshire and other surrounding counties when required.
Uniform will be supplied by the company.
A clean driving license is required. Must be over the age of 21 (due to insurance restrictions).
Hours are: 8 hour shift Monday to Friday and one Saturday in every month for 2 hour shift.
Duties
- Operate a Hiab 18 tonne lorry for the transportation of goods to various locations.
- Ensure the safe loading and unloading of cargo, securing loads properly for transport.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Follow all traffic laws and regulations while on the road.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other team members regarding delivery schedules and any issues that may arise during transit.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, addressing any concerns or questions from clients.
Requirements
- Valid commercial driving licence (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Valid CPC qualification.
- Experience as a HGV delivery driver, particularly with flatbed vehicles, is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices in commercial driving.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet delivery schedules.
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-oriented attitude.
- Physical stamina to handle loading and unloading tasks as well as long hours on the road.
