Senior Support Worker – Children’s Residential (EBD)
Location: Tewkesbury
Salary: £37,384 – £41,000 per year (including sleep-ins, dependent on experience)
Hourly Rate: £14.66 – £15.55 per hour
Hours: 173 hours per month | 2 on / 4 off shift pattern
Sleep-in rate: £70 per sleep
About the Role
An experienced and dedicated Senior Support Worker is required for a 3-bed children’s residential home in Tewkesbury, supporting young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
This is a key role within the home, supporting the Registered Manager in delivering high-quality, child-centred care. The successful candidate will lead shifts, support staff, and help maintain a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where young people can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day operation of the home in line with Ofsted regulations and Children’s Homes Regulations
- Lead shifts and provide guidance and support to Support Workers
- Deliver consistent, trauma-informed care tailored to individual needs
- Build positive, trusting relationships with young people
- Support and implement care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour management strategies
- Promote education, independence, and emotional wellbeing
- Liaise effectively with social workers, families, and external professionals
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and reports
Requirements
- Previous experience in a children’s residential care setting (EBD preferred)
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards)
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner
- Experience in a senior or leadership role within care is desirable
- Full UK driving licence preferred
