The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC Vertical Boring Machines to manufacture precision aerospace components in line with engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
CNC Machining
- Set up, program, and operate CNC Vertical Boring Machines to produce precision aerospace components.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, job cards, and CNC programs.
- Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, cutting speeds, and feeds.
- Apply and adjust CNC offsets as required.
- Edit and optimise CNC programs to improve machining performance and efficiency.
Quality & Inspection
- Conduct self-inspection of machined components using precision measuring equipment.
- Complete inspection records, process sheets, and in-process quality checks.
- Ensure all work complies with AS9100 and aerospace quality standards.
- Maintain high levels of accuracy and attention to detail throughout the manufacturing process.
Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
- Diagnose and resolve machining issues including tooling, dimensional variation, and program-related challenges.
- Support root cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Work collaboratively with engineering, quality, and production teams to drive improvements.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute ideas to enhance efficiency, quality, and productivity.
Health, Safety & 5S
- Follow all health and safety procedures and safe working practices.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient work area in line with 5S principles.
- Support workplace organisation, visual management, and continuous improvement activities.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience operating a CNC Machine.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings and geometric tolerances.
- Experience machining precision components within aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated industries.
- Knowledge of quality inspection techniques and precision measuring equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
- A strong commitment to quality, safety, and teamwork.
