Location: Huddersfield Branch Office, 4 New North Parade
Salary: Starting from £26,403 per annum
Hours: 35 hours per week (Mon–Thu 9am–5pm, Fri 9am–4pm)

Kirklees UNISON Local Government Branch is seeking a dedicated, empathetic, and resourceful Member Support Officer to join our vibrant team. With over 9,000 members across public, private, and academy sectors, this is a pivotal role supporting workers through a wide range of workplace issues.
About the Role
You’ll be the first point of contact for members needing support with:
- Grievance and disciplinary procedures
- Sickness reviews and formal meetings
- Employment rights and workplace policies
You’ll provide clear, practical advice, represent members in meetings (in-person or online), and manage casework using our digital system (Caseweb). The role is office-based with travel across Kirklees and the wider Yorkshire & Humberside region.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths & English
- ERA/TUC accreditation (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience in advice, advocacy, or support roles
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage caseloads and work independently
- Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion
Desirable:
- Knowledge of employment law
- Experience in unionised or public sector environments
- Advocacy or representation experience
