Job Overview
We are looking for a new Bridalwear volunteer to join our team at Oxfam Darlington Charity Shop!
We are looking for a volunteer who loves all things bridal and wants to take on the challenge of running our large bridal department within the store. The store sells a range of new and used bridalwear donated from members of the public and from retail bridal stores, and the range includes the dresses and accessories for the bride and her bridesmaids, as well as mother of the bride outfits and hats. The bridal department has its own large room upstairs. The role will involve sorting new donations, researching and pricing them, and displaying them attractively, and updating the bridal window display regularly. When necessary, the volunteer will need to cull unsold items to make room for new stock. Ideally, we are hoping to attend Bridal Fayres in the future, in order to maximise our bridal revenues and raise funds for our charitable work.
This role will be ideal for someone who is:
- able to work independently within a large team;
- happy to take advice and instruction from the management when offered;
- well organised, and able to follow a culling and restocking plan to keep the department refreshed and well stocked;
- able to use various websites to research the value of items, or willing to learn;
- available to work ideally a minimum of 8 hours per week, ideally over 2 shifts, but it is a flexible role.
We can offer our volunteers valuable work experience in a retail environment, and the opportunity to directly contribute to Oxfam’s mission to achieve a just world without poverty. We can provide references for our team, and we can provide travel costs in accordance with our expenses policy.
