STEM & VR Activity Instructor (Summer Holiday Camps) – £25/hr + Travel Paid (Up to £2,500 Contract Value)

Next Thing Education Camps is seeking an enthusiastic STEM & VR Activity Instructor to deliver exciting technology workshops at our summer holiday camps across multiple schools.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children, has strong presentation skills, and is confident leading engaging, hands-on activities. Full training, resources, and equipment will be provided.
This role would particularly suit teachers, teaching assistants, sports coaches, youth workers, holiday camp leaders, and childcare professionals who are confident leading and managing groups of children.
About the Role
You will be responsible for delivering fun and interactive workshops using Meta Quest 3S VR headsets and 3D pens to groups of primary-aged children attending our holiday camps.
No previous VR teaching experience is required. We provide everything you need to successfully deliver the sessions.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a 1-hour Virtual Reality (VR) workshop using Meta Quest 3S headsets.
- Deliver a 1-hour 3D Pen workshop.
- Lead engaging STEM and technology activities tailored to children's age and abilities.
- Create a fun, inclusive, and positive learning environment that encourages participation and teamwork.
- Support children in developing creativity, problem-solving, and technical skills through hands-on activities.
- Adapt activities where appropriate to accommodate different learning needs and abilities.
- Ensure the safety, wellbeing, and engagement of all participants throughout the day.
- Assist with participant supervision during break and lunch periods.
- Set up and pack away equipment.
- Transport VR and 3D pen equipment between venues.
Working Hours & Pay
- Working hours: 8:30am – 1:30pm
- Approx. 25 hours per week
- £25 per hour
- Travel expenses paid
- Up to 20 working days available
- Total contract value: up to £2,500 plus paid travel
Essential Requirements
- Experience working with children in a school, childcare, holiday camp, coaching, teaching, or youth work environment.
- Confident managing and engaging groups of children independently.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to maintain a safe, positive, and well-organised learning environment.
- Enthusiasm for technology, STEM, gaming, VR, or digital creativity.
- Flexible, adaptable, and able to work confidently in different school settings.
- Reliable, professional, and self-motivated.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Access to a suitable vehicle capable of transporting equipment.
Desirable Experience
- Teaching, teaching assistant, nursery, childcare, holiday camp, sports coaching, youth work, or activity leader experience.
- Experience delivering workshops, presentations, or group activities.
- Interest in technology, STEM, coding, gaming, VR, or education.
Training & Support
We provide:
- Full training before delivery begins.
- Detailed lesson plans and activity guides.
- All VR and 3D pen equipment.
- Paid travel expenses.
- Ongoing support from our management team.
Training and equipment collection will take place at our offices located at Unit 7, Whiteleaf Road, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, HP3 9HD.
The training session will last approximately 2 hours, and all equipment required for camp delivery will be issued during this session.
