Full Time Assessor – Adult Social Care
Location: Blackburn (with travel to learner workplaces)
Contract: Full Time – permanent
Reports to: Training Manager
Role Purpose
To provide immediate assessment support by completing outstanding observations and professional discussions for learners undertaking the TQUK Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate.
This is a delivery-focused role designed to support learner completion and maintain quality standards during a transition period, with minimal administrative burden.
Key Responsibilities
1. Assessment Delivery (Primary Focus)
- Conduct workplace observations in line with qualification standards
- Carry out professional discussions to confirm learner competence
- Make accurate, fair, and evidence-based assessment decisions
- Ensure all evidence meets TQUK and internal quality requirements
2. Learner Support
- Provide clear, constructive verbal and written feedback
- Support learners to complete outstanding criteria efficiently
- Maintain a professional and supportive approach to learner engagement
3. Quality and Compliance
- Follow all awarding organisation requirements
- Ensure assessment decisions are consistent and auditable
- Work in line with internal quality assurance expectations
4. Communication
- Liaise with the Training Manager regarding learner progress
- Coordinate directly with learners and employers to schedule visits
- Escalate any risks to completion in a timely manner
5. Administrative Expectations (Light-Touch)
- Record outcomes of observations and discussions clearly
- Maintain basic records of completed assessments
- Adapt to current systems with awareness that processes may change
Scope of Role
- Focus is completion of existing learners, not full programme delivery
- No requirement to design training programmes
- Limited exposure to systems due to upcoming CRM implementation
- Emphasis on efficiency, quality, and completion rates
Person Specification
Essential
- TQUK Qualification which is one of the following :
- Level3 award in assessing competence in the work environment
- Level 3 award in assessing vocationally related achievement
- Level 3 award in understanding the principles and practices of assessment
- Level 3 certificate in assessing vocational achievement
- A1 or D32/D33
- Strong occupational competence in Health and Social Care
- Experience conducting workplace observations and professional discussions
- Ability to make confident, evidence-based assessment decisions
- Strong time management and ability to work autonomously
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
- Experience with vocational qualifications
- Experience in fast-paced or catch-up assessment environments
- IQA awareness
