Overview
We are seeking a skilled Forklift Engineer to join our maintenance team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems, with experience in fabrication, welding, and equipment repair. This role involves maintaining and repairing heavy machinery such as forklifts, MEWP's, and commercial vehicles, ensuring optimal operational efficiency across our facilities. Duties
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on forklifts, MEWP's, commercial vehicles, and other heavy equipment
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using schematics and diagnostic tools
- Perform repairs including welding, soldering, and fabrication of parts as needed
- Use hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to assemble, disassemble, and repair machinery
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and repairs performed
- Assist with the installation of new equipment and upgrades to existing machinery
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations during all maintenance procedures
- Provide excellent customer service by liaising with internal teams regarding equipment status and repair timelines
- Conduct troubleshooting to minimise downtime and optimise equipment performance
Requirements
- Proven experience in mechanical engineering or equipment maintenance, particularly with forklifts
- Strong electrical knowledge including schematics reading and circuit diagnostics
- Proficiency in fabrication, welding, soldering, and assembly work
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and specialised maintenance equipment safely and effectively
- Experience with electrical systems, mechanical components, and heavy machinery repair
- Knowledge of safety standards related to heavy equipment operation and maintenance
- Physical ability for heavy lifting and working in demanding environments
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping
- Customer service skills to effectively communicate with colleagues and clients regarding repairs or technical issues
